In Youth Music Alive 3×04, we tried explaining our theory of songwriting.
The theory is to us that most songs are generally conversation pieces either one way or two way though some songs don’t fit that bill.
What would you do if I sang out of tune
Would you stand up and walk out on me
Lend me your ears and I’ll sing you a song
and I’ll try not to sing out of key
One way conversation
What would you do (pause) if I sang out of tune?
Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ears (pause) and I’ll sing you a song
(pause) and I’ll try not to sing out of key
You could make it sound in so many different ways, you could make the ‘stand up and walk out on me’ sound really aggressive, to the point of frustration, you could make ‘and I’ll not to sing out of key’ sound humorous.
What we’re trying to say is that perhaps listening to conversations would be the key to writing very relating songs
